BEGIN YOUR PRACTICE SESSION AT THE PUTTING GREEN AND WORK YOUR WAY TO THE DRIVING RANGE USING THESE 3 RELIABLE STEPS
1 - PUTTING
There is no quicker way to immediately lower your golf score than by improving your putting. Practice this exercise when you can afford 15 minutes of putting green time or immediately before your round of golf. It really does not take much time.
PUTTING EXERCISE:
-Bring 3 good balls to the putting green
-Begin close and putt to a hole with each ball that is less than 10 feet in
distance away
-Putt each of the 3 balls to a different hole on the green
-When the last ball is in the hole then begin to putt the 3 balls to the furthest
hole from each ball location
-Repeat this exercise 5 times and you will be ready to play with a good feel
for the condition of the greens
JERRY'S PUTTING TIP: "YOU ALWAYS DRIVE FOR SHOW
AND PUTT FOR DOUGH!
2 - CHIPPING - SHORT GAME
Improving your short game can also produce immediate results that will lower your golf scores. This exercise also can be accomplished in 15 minutes.
CHIPPING EXERCISE
-Practice with 5 balls for each chip or short game shot
-Practice at a location within 10 yards from the edge of the green in the
fairway or in the rough
-Execute 5 flop shots where you open the wedge face to increase trajectory
and slow the roll
-Execute 5 flip shots which are a normal chip with a wedge to get a feel for
the conditions of the green
-Execute 5 bunker shots using a normal sand lie
-Execute 5 pitch and runs with a pitching wedge to work on ball landings
-Execute 5 pitch and runs with an 8 iron to work on ball roll
JERRY'S CHIPPING TIP: "YOUR SHORT GAME CAN BEAT
ANY LONG HITTERS"
3 - THE REST OF YOUR CLUBS AND THE DRIVING RANGE
Lastly, always warm up at your golf course or the local driving range before you play your round of golf.
Use a small bucket of balls to practice the following:
-Hit 7 balls with each golf club
-Session # 1 - begin with your PW, 8, 5, 3, 5 wood, 3 wood and Driver
-Session # 2 - use your 9, 6, 4, 5 wood, 3 wood and Driver
-Play the full length of each club (remember - 7 balls each)
- Pick new target lines after a few shots
After you have worked with a range of clubs in your bag you will be ready to play and confident as to your distance, line and ability that particular day.
JERRY'S SWING TIP: "IT IS NOT AGAINST THE RULES
TO WATCH THE CLUBHEAD HIT THE BALL!"
