Golfers Dry and Cracked Fingers
One of the most common ailments that golfers experience while out on the links is dry, cracked skin on the fingertips, often near a fingernail.  This can occur whether you wear a golf glove or not.   As the weather changes and temperature and humidity affect your skin, remember to apply a quality moisturizing lotion after a round of golf.  By keeping your skin moist and wearing a quality golf glove you can often prevent cracking of the skin.  There are many quality moisturizing lotions on the market to choose from.

Golfers Swing
According to the Mayo Clinic website, the golf swing is a motion that involves all parts of a golfers body. Force is transferred from the ankles, to the legs, to the back, to the shoulders and right out through the wrists. The smoother the transfer of force during a golf swing the better off you are according to the website.  The more you can learn correct swing mechanics early in your golfing career, the less prone to injury a golfer will be. As in most sports, it's harder to break bad habits later. Taking professional lessons from your local golf professional can help.

According to the Mayo Clinic website the most common golf injuries are to the back, shoulders, elbows and wrists. Injuries to the golfers legs and ankles are less common. However, if you've had a past leg or foot injury, such as ligament or cartilage damage, the web site recommends against golf shoes with long cleats. These shoes often dig into the turf and hold your feet planted as you swing, which may cause rotational strain on your knees or ankles. You can often help avoid straining vulnerable areas in your legs and feet by wearing short cleats or tennis shoes.

The Mayo Clinic site also advises that golfers should also use proper posture, stay smooth, stabilize your lower back while golfing and do not over swing.  Golf training tips on the web site also recommend are taking it easy to avoid overuse injuries, warning up, maintaining flexibility and muscle strengthening.  You can search on your Google search engine for "Mayo Clinic Golf" for more detailed information.
Golfers Elbow
The medical name Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis) comes from the names of the bony prominences where the tendons insert, and where the inflammation causes the golfers pain. The pain of Golfer's elbow is usually at the elbow joint on the inside of the arm.  A shooting sensation down the forearm is also common while gripping objects during a golf game.

According to the "Golfers Elbow Central" website, the muscles of the forearm that pull the wrist down are called wrist flexors. Wrist flexors begin at a common tendon attachment on the inside bump of the elbow called the medial epicondyle.  As the wrist is flexed or the hand made to grip, the muscles tense and pull against the tendons. Force placed on the flexor muscles during a golfers swing pulls on the tendons at the medial epicondyle.  Golfers elbow, is similar to its counterpart, tennis elbow. The primary difference between the two is the location of the pain and the activity that leads to injury according to the website. However, both conditions are caused by overuse of the muscles of the forearm by golfers often leading to inflammation and pain around the elbow joint.

As golfers experience pain due to injuries or strain it often becomes necessary to wear a brace.  From knee braces to elbow support there are many quality products on the market to help you with your golfing experience.   Search on your Google search engine under "sports injury clinic", "elbow braces" and "golfers elbow" for more detailed information that could improve your golfing experience and your golf score.
Golfers Skin Care
One of the most common issues for golfers is skin care.  Maximum protection of your exposed skin cannot be overemphasized.  Whether you are dark or light skinned it is always prudent to protect exposed skin while spending time on the golf course.  There are many quality sun screen products on the market and some are even water proof.  Water proof sun screens can be effective in the warmer climates like Florida and Arizona where golfers can perspire more often.

In addition to the application of quality sun screens, clothing can be a comfortable and effective sun screen.  There are many lightweight clothing materials that block sun and even repel insects that are available to golfers today.  Hats are now made with longer bills and lighter material.   Always remember that it's better to cover exposed skin up while on the golf course!
Golfers Stretches and Strength Training
One of the most important activities that a golfer of all ages can do is routine stretching.  Regular stretching coupled with strength training can often extend your golf game well into your golden years.   Incorporate a stretching routine that is realistic and comfortable for you today if you have not already.

The "
Fitness for Golf" website is an excellent on line resource for golfers to enhance their stretching effectiveness.  According to the "Fitness for Golf" website, flexibility has been singled out as one of the most important components of the golf swing. Any time you have tight muscles your can often respond by restricted movement. Optimal flexibility is the key to freedom of movement in the swing. When you as a golfer enhance your flexibility, you have the potential to lengthen your golf swing and create greater club head speed. A golfers focus should always be on restoring normal range of motion according to the "Fitness for Golf" website.
According to the "Greg Norman Shark" website proper strength training for golfers incorporates both machines and free weights.  Training that includes lunges, squats back extensions, bench press and standing curls all are beneficial to maintaining strength in your golf game.  The "Greg Norman Shark" website a visually pleasing and easy to understand site for golf fitness tips.
