Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Chicago has been nationally ranked since it opened in 1964 and Course number four has acquired the nickname "DUBSDREAD".

THE WESTERN OPEN
Jim Furyk won the Western Open on July 3, 2005. He did this by posting rounds of 64-70-67-69=270, 14 under per par, to beat the talented Tiger Woods, who himself has won the Western Open three times.

Furyk, who won the U.S. Open and Buick Open in 2003, was only one stroke off the DUBSDREAD course record with his score of 64. Furyk has had a storied golf career which started with the Western Junior in 1987 at Cog Hill.

Many golf enthusiasts do not realize it but the Western Open is the oldest tournament on the regular PGA Tour and the second oldest in the nation. Only the U.S. Open, which began in 1895, is an older PGA tournament. The Western Open has been played at Cog Hill since 1991.
